Alfred Trauffer, originally a dairy farmer carved his first wooden cow which his his wife Rosa hand painted as a Christmas gift for their own child.
In 1938 Trauffer started a business that now spans three generations and is being run by Marc Trauffer, Alfred and Rosa's grandson.
The range of animals has grown, but they are still made by hand from local linden wood in the Bernese Oberland, the home of traditional woodcarving.
Each product meets strict European safety standards and is made from FSC certified wood.
